The Cockatours team Joe (Driver) and Cass (Chef) were fantastic. We learnt so much and had so many wonderful experiences as well a lot of fun. We certainly know a lot more about the top end history, indigenous culture, flora and fauna especially reptiles. Joe is an expert and spotted a rare blue tailed spotted monitor and many other snakes, lizards and birds. The tour was extremely well organised, the tents and sleeping gear were very comfortable and the food was amazing. We would highly recommend taking a trip with Cockatours to have an experience of a lifetime.read less - 11/20/2023

Starting at the Marine department at James Cook University, Cairns, and ending at the Ice Creamery in the Daintree, many sights and experiences were highlighted in between. Our Tour Guide and driver Joe, provided great knowledge of the areas visited and extreme passion when encountering the various reptiles along the way. Chef Cass conjured up many exceptional meals for us, more befitting a restaurant than the outback. The organization, itinerary and places visited were excellent. It was great to meet Rossy ( the owner ) and have a chat and meal with him at Kalpower Crossing. Would not hesitate to recommend Cockatours to anyone wishing to have an exceptional outback experience on a very well run great value tour. Many Thanks Graeme and Robyn.read less - 11/11/2023

We don't usually do tours but friends had highly recommended Cockatours and we'd always wanted to see Cape York and the Top End so we decided to go. Well, it was an amazing tour! We'd never have seen so many wonderful sights on our own. Rossy has given so much time and thought to the itinerary and this is maybe the only tour that takes you from Cairns to the tip and back again (most tours you fly back to Cairns from Horn Island). We were especially lucky in having the wonderful Joe as our guide and driver and the fabulous Cassy as our chef. The food was excellent! Healthy, delicious and there was always enough with snacks along the way for those who wanted them. Joe is a reptile expert and so we had some truly amazing experiences with him spotting some fascinating snakes and - incredibly - Australia's rarest lizard with the first confirmed sighting of the blue-tailed tree monitor in the Northern Peninsula. That was just one of many a brilliant days! The truck/bus (aka "Herc") was remarkably comfy - even over the corrugations - and the system of everyone rotating seats worked really well. The group was terrific and camping in so many remote and often beautiful locations was a great experience. We camped each night (couples in their own tent, singles in their own tent) putting them up on arrival every afternoon and taking them down in the morning. It didn't take us long to get the hang of it and it became a fun activity with everyone pitching in and helping out. The tents were good and the mattresses comfy and the whole routine was extremely well-thought out and organised. Because Rossy (who owns Cockatours) has so many great connections to the land and the people this tour offered things that other tours don't. We all loved the Welcome to Country at Coen and going off-track for wildlife encounters. Joe and Cassy were the BEST tour leaders - full of fun and good humour, knowledgeable, kind and generous. We loved this tour and are hoping to do the Gulf Savannah Tour in 2025. If you've ever wanted to see Pajinka (Cape York) and stand on the northernmost tip of Continental Australasia then this is the way to do it!read less - 10/24/2023
